Spring Cleanup Tips for Selling

Let's hope at mid May Spring is finally here to stay!  It certainly has not been our Vancouver normal Spring thus far.

As the weather improves it is time to do that Spring cleanup especially to prepare a home for selling.

  • Wash windows inside and out.  Of course if you are in a high rise the only outside windows you may be able to wash are all patio doors.  Make sure all the patio doors are easy to open.
  • Clean those ceiling fan blades!  There is nothing worse than to turn on a ceiling fan and see the dust fly.

  • Clean off mineral deposits from faucet aerators and shower heads by soaking in white vinegar and scrubbing with old toothbruses.  Or if necessary replace them entirely.

  • Clean those gutters and fix drain pipes.

  • Any lawn/deck furniture should be cleaned or paint if necessary.   If cushions are worn buy new ones.

  • Clean your decks.  Place a few nice pots with "live" flowers and clean out the dead debris.

  • Clean up the sidewalks. Paint the front door.
  • Keep garden hoses nicely rolled up or placed properly on a hose hanger.

Remember the importance of first impressions!

Make an Impression

Prospective buyers often make up their minds about a house even before they get out of the car.  Make sure they have the right idea.  The right visual.  Clean up the yard, decks, windows, sidewalks, gutters,  flower beds and keep the lawn cut.
